robots in black literature

just finished the invisible man today. that was an incredible book. the last scene is full of him getting stuck in a coal cellar (it's pitch black). he spends some time down there, days/nights,who knows? dreaming, thinking, screaming. he hallucinates a giant mechanical metal robot walking down the street. is that one of the few robots in black literature? (oscar wao, notwithstanding)
